Chartham Karate & Martial Arts
This is a vibrant club with two separate classes for children aged 5 to 9 years and 10’s, 11’s & Teens. With a good mixture of ages, abilities, girls and boys there is always a lot of energy to the club. The club meets every Tuesday evening at at Chartham Village Hall, Station Road, Chartham, Nr Canterbury, Kent CT4 7JA. Children aged 5 to 9 meet from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and children aged 10+ meet from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Chartham Village Fete
An annual village fete is held on the Memorial Field on the first Sunday following August Bank Holiday. There is always a good variety of traditional sideshows and refreshments. Contact Ms Carol Manning for further details or if you would like to be involved.

Riding for the Disabled Chartham
We have a Riding for the Disabled Group located off Candlers Way in St Augustine’s.
It provides horse riding and carriage driving for children and adults with various forms of learning disabilities as well as physical disabilities, with the expert guidance of volunteers and qualified instructors. Cobbes Meadow riding opportunities are supported by voluntary donations.
Cobbes Meadow runs mornings Monday – Friday and one Saturday per month.
Volunteers are welcome to help support the efforts of this independent charity.

Royal British Legion Chartham
The Branch exists to bring about the unity of all ex-Service men and women and to assist them and their dependents in time of need and to promote the same sense of loyalty and comradeship that existed whilst in the Service.
The Royal British Legion Hall on Bolts Hill is now closed but members now meet at the village hall on the first Thursday of each month at 7.00pm.
A period of service in any of H.M. Armed Forces qualifies any man or woman for Ordinary Membership. Associate Membership is at the discretion of the Management Committee.

League of Friends Chartham
Members raise money for the Canterbury Hospitals by organising various events in Chartham and Chartham Hatch. About four meetings a year are held, usually at one of the member’s houses. Anyone interested in providing comforts for patients in hospital is welcome to join.

Helping Hands Chartham
This is a scheme supported by St Mary’s Parochial Church Council to help people with Transport, Shopping, Collecting Prescriptions and Hospital Visits. The organisers would also like to know of any Senior Citizens who might like a visit or an outing.

Chartham Hatch Coffee Club
Chartham Hatch Coffee Club at Chartham Hatch Village Hall. Meet 1st Wednesday in each month, between 10:00am and 12:00pm noon. All welcome. Stay as long or little as you like, for refreshments and a chat. Price £3.00. This coffee club has only recently been set up and is subject to modification.

Chartham Hatch Art Group
Meets every Thursday 1:30pm to 4:00pm in Chartham Hatch Village Hall. It is a gathering of people interested in painting and they provide their own materials. It is an informal art club and they would be pleased to welcome any new members who would like to have a go. There is a small charge of £2.50 per session which covers the hire of the hall and a cup of tea.

The Society meets every second Thursday of the month, 7.30pm at the Chartham Village Hall, Station Road, Chartham, Nr Canterbury, Kent CT4 7JA. The aim of the Society is to promote an interest in gardening generally and to compete in a friendly way in Summer and Autumn Shows.

Firs Nursery Chartham
Firs Nursery is a registered charity, self-supporting, committee run nursery, offering excellent facilities in the grounds of Chartham Primary School. It takes children from 2 years to school age during term time and operates 8.45am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday. It was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted. The nursery offers an extensive range of activities supported by dedicated staff which includes a qualified teacher.

Early Years Project – Canterbury and District
Parent Baby Toddler Group at Chartham Village Hall every Tuesday (Term Time only) 9:30am – 11:00am.
The Sessions are for children and babies aged 0 – 4 where staff provide support for parents, activities crafts and messy play.
£3.00 per family.
Every second Tuesday in the month we have a Health Visitor Clinic where parents can access this much needed service.

Chartham Craft Club
The craft club is held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday in any month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and costs £2.00 per member an afternoon. Members bring their own craft activities.

Chartham Sports Club
Chartham Sports provides football for children of all ages and participates in the East Kent Youth League. Training takes place on varying days depending on the age group but welcome all abilities to join. The Club also provide men’s football, competing in the Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday league made up of players who have progressed through the youth section.
Football coaching for Reception and Year 1 ages is also provided at St Augustine’s on Saturday mornings.
Their aim is to promote safe and enjoyable football for all in the village of Chartham and surrounding areas.

Chartham Angling Society
Chartham and District Angling Society, formed approximately 40 years ago, on a Tuesday evening on the 2nd of December 1975, when the founder members approached the local Parish Council about using the local disused gravel works lake known as Pads Lake [or “Mickey Mouse Lake” to some] for coarse fishing.
Our pretty 2.5 acre clear water lake near Canterbury was stocked with most species of classic freshwater fish, inc tench, carp and pike. Where previously, there was also a large head of silver fish for match anglers, these are all now reduced to make better accommodations for the primary pursuit, carp.
After many years of hard work, solely by our members the lake has been revived and membership of our Society is highly prized and as such, limited availability. Should you wish to become a member, please follow the link to our application form to join the waiting list. Please understand that there will be some wait for an offer of a place.
Chartham Guide Unit
We’re an international organisation empowering young women for over a century. Guides is the next adventure after Rainbows and Brownies, but any girl can join and start their Guiding Adventure whether you’ve been a member before or not. It is aimed for young women aged 10 to 14+.
We have two venues in the parish, one for Spring and Summer and one for Autumn and Winter meeting on Thursdays. We’ll be playing an active role in our Community as well as Games, Adventures, Team Building, Cooking, Craft, Holidays and Challenges.

Brownies Chartham
Brownies meet every Wednesday evening, during term time, 6.15pm to 7.45pm; at the Community Hall, Old School Surgery, Bolts Hill, Chartham. Girls from the age of 7-10 follow the aims of the world-wide Guide Association in friendship and in participating in indoor and outdoor activities.
There is a small weekly membership subscription.

1st Chartham Rainbow Unit
‘Rainbows’ are the youngest section of Girl-guiding UK – Brownies and Guides are our ‘big sisters’. Rainbows celebrated their 21st Birthday in 2008.
In Chartham, up to 18 girls aged between 5 and 7 meet together at Chartham Hatch Village Hall on a Wednesday evening from5 – 6pm. The girls take part in a variety of activities, from sport to cooking and discussions to parties. They make, create, sing, run around, play games, and make choices about what they are to do, make new friends, discover new things, try new activities, visit new places, and learn to have fun together! They can sometimes earn badges for the things they have done in the unit.
Girl-guiding is an opportunity to allow girls to ‘take the lead’. Being exclusively for females, there are chances for girls to learn from an early age skills of working in a group and making decisions. As she grows up through the sections, opportunities for self-governance and leadership are given. At 1st Chartham Rainbows we try to build a foundation for the girls, to be able to develop themselves further as they grow up, whilst having a multitude of enjoyable and challenging new experiences.
